Austin Butler Reveals the Truth Behind His Bald Look for ‘Dune: Part 2’

Austin Butler recently shared insights into his dramatic makeover for the upcoming movie Dune: Part Two.

Portraying the character Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, he underwent a striking transformation, completely shaving his head and eyebrows to embody the role.

Since the first glimpse of Butler in costume over a year ago, fans have speculated whether he actually shaved for the part. Butler addressed this question in a recent interview.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Butler clarified that he didn’t shave because after filming Dune, he immediately had to film The Bikeriders.

Describing The Bikeriders as more of an indie film, Butler explained that Nichols opted for a bald cap due to budget constraints. This decision saved time and allowed him to seamlessly transition between projects.

Covering his entire head down to his eyebrows, the bald cap required three hours of makeup preparation before filming—a significant improvement from initial attempts that took five hours.

Reflecting on the experience, Butler humorously remarked on the liberating feeling of being without eyebrows, joking about the unexpected weight they seemingly carry.

Dune: Part Two is set to premiere in theaters on March 1, and anticipation is high among fans. Stay tuned for critical reception of the blockbuster.
